Babesia


  • caused most often by the single-celled parasite; babesia microti

  • infects humans

  • flu-like, include tiredness, loss of appetite, fever, drenching sweat, muscle pain. Also nausea, vommiting, headache, shaking chills, blood in the urine, and depression are symptoms


  • People who are over the age of 40, will have to have their spleen removed and will have a serious disease like cancer or aids, etc. They will also have a much greater risk for the more serious babesiosis.

Crytocarion Irritans (ich in fish)

  • symptoms: salt-like specks on fins/b0dy. Rubbing or scratching against decor to substrate, excessive slime, problems breathing, frayed fins, loss of appetite

  • this parasite affects marine and brackfish fish


  • no danger to humans because it is a fish disease

  • prasitizes marine fish

Coccidiosis


  • caused by a micscopic animal or protoza


  • host can infect fowl, domestic animals, and humans

  • droopness, listness, loss of appetite, unthrifty feathers, diarrhea, dehydration


  • no danger to humans
